Quantum Chemistry Handouts

Quantum Chemistry II
In this course, students learn about electronic structures of atoms and molecules to understand how we can treat a many-electron system and what are the essential aspects of chemical bonding. First, students learn perturbation and variational methods as the fundamental approximation methods in quantum mechanics. After learning about a spin angular momentum of an electron, they learn about the electronic structures of an atom, through which they deepen their understanding of the coupling of angular momentum vectors. Then, they learn about how chemical bonds are formed among atoms to form a molecule and how we can describe the electronic structure of a molecule.
